In the heart of an industrial complex dedicated to energy production in Mongolia, a critical need arose for efficient and safe maintenance access to one of its most vital installations: a Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) system, commonly known as a desulfurization tower or scrubber. This case study illustrates how our state-of-the-art industrial elevators have become indispensable in facilitating the inspection and maintenance processes of such crucial environmental protection equipment.
The desulfurization tower, standing at over 100 meters tall, plays a pivotal role in reducing sulfur dioxide emissions from the power plant, thereby ensuring compliance with stringent environmental regulations. Over time, the internal components of the tower, including mist eliminators, spray nozzles, and liners, require thorough inspections and periodic maintenance to maintain their efficiency. However, the sheer height and complexity of the structure presented significant challenges for accessing these areas safely and efficiently.
Before the installation of our industrial elevator system, technicians relied on traditional scaffolding and ladders for ascending the tower—a method that was not only time-consuming but also posed considerable safety risks. Recognizing the need for a more effective solution, the facility management decided to invest in our custom-designed industrial elevators tailored specifically for the desulfurization tower's unique requirements.
Our engineering team collaborated closely with the client to develop an elevator system capable of seamlessly integrating into the existing structure of the tower. The elevators were constructed using corrosion-resistant materials to withstand the harsh environment inside the FGD system, which is characterized by high humidity and the presence of corrosive substances. Furthermore, the design incorporated advanced safety features, including emergency braking systems, anti-slip flooring, and real-time monitoring capabilities to ensure the highest level of operator safety.
The implementation of our industrial elevators has transformed the maintenance process for the desulfurization tower. Technicians can now access all levels of the tower quickly and safely, significantly reducing the time required for inspections and repairs.
